The mission consisted in creating a new design for the existing
site. The prior site was very complex, with over 150 web pages linked
in a completely unorganized manner.
We went through a thorough analysis of the site content, in order
to design the new navigation system, with the objective and difficult
challenge to put as much information as possible within 2 or 3 clicks
from anywhere in the site. The additional constraint was to build
a user-friendly navigation system.
In order to reach these goals, we have taken a portal approach
for the design, and the use of drop-down menus. Instead of using
classic drop-down menus, which would have created visual problems
on resize of the browser window (because the portal design is centered
on the page, and therefore moves around dynamically), we went for
an advanced DHMTL menu system, built from scratch, which "sticks"
to the menu title no matter how the browser window is resized. These
menus are also very easily maintained (additions/modifications/deletions)
with just basic HTML knowledge.
We also replaced the guestbook application from the old site with
a new one, fully integrated in the site design, and much more powerful
in features and functionalities.
